Hublot's Exclusive Alloy - Magic Gold

Hublot's exclusive alloy: Magic Gold. This material, jointly developed by Hublot and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), is characterized by its exceptionally high hardness. As is well known, traditional 18K gold is extremely prone to scratches due to its soft surface. The introduction of Magic Gold was precisely to solve this problem. To give precious metals scratch-resistant properties, "Magic Gold" uses a special process to inject liquid gold into cold-pressed boron carbide components under extremely high pressure. It retains the color and luster of gold while possessing scratch resistance not found in other 18K gold. According to relevant data, Magic Gold has a Vickers hardness of 1000. In comparison, traditional 18K gold has a Vickers hardness of only 400, and stainless steel has a Vickers hardness of only 600.

The first watch crafted in Magic Gold, the Big Bang Ferrari, debuted at Baselworld 2012. However, for a long time afterward, the brand did not release a sequel in Magic Gold. Until 2023, when the limited edition of 200 pieces, the BIG BANG Unico all-Magic Gold watch, made a grand return.

This timepiece retains the series' signature 44mm case, "sandwich" construction, large pushers, six noticeably misaligned functional screws on the bezel, and a one-click quick-change strap system. With a rugged and modern design, it is powered by the second-generation Unico HUB1280 in-house movement, boasting a 72-hour power reserve.
